Analytical Feed Testing at Eurofins Scientific AG - Switzerland
Analysis in Feed - complex and unique!
Feed is the basis of our diet with foods of animal origin. As part of the value creation chain, feed is therefore of critical importance for the quality of our food as well as for the health and well-being of humans and animals.
Through the Eurofins Group, Eurofins Scientific AG in Switzerland can offer you the testing of feed samples within a very short timeframe and following scientifically recognized methods. We consider it our job to actively advise you when it comes to evaluating your high-quality standards. Whether with the preparation of test plans in connection with QA monitoring, requests for current maximum concentrations, rules, and regulations, or in connection with the assessment of your test reports.
As for feed, we offer you a broad, competitive range of services:
- Nutritional analyses and energy evaluation (following yellow and green book)1
- Attractive analysis packages for hay/dry feed, TMR as well as maize and grass silage (using ultra-modern NIR technology 1)
- Identification of minerals 1, amino acids 1, and vitamins 1
- Detection and identification of heavy metals 1, mycotoxins 1, genetically modified organisms 1, pesticides 1, veterinary drugs 1, and a multitude of contaminants 1
Through our connections within the international Eurofins network, we can also offer you solutions for special analytical problems in many cases. Furthermore, we can offer you QA-approved laboratories for feed monitoring.
1 These analyses are performed in an accredited Lab within the Eurofins Network of Laboratories. The list is not exhaustive.
Certification of Eurofins laboratories
Reliable laboratory analysis is critical to a robust feed safety chain. With this in mind, GMP+ International, the feed safety certification system, has launched the Registered GMP+ Laboratories program: As of July 1, 2019, laboratories analyzing critical contaminants for GMP+ FSA (Feed Safety Assurance)-certified companies were required to apply for GMP+ B11 registration. From January 1, 2020, only Registered GMP+ laboratories are allowed to perform critical contaminant analysis. Eurofins has harmonized the GMP+ certification of its laboratories in an international project to ensure that the certification process is as smooth as possible. This harmonized approach is designed to provide the greatest benefit to you, our customers, so that you can be assured that participating Eurofins laboratories performing or subcontracting analysis of critical contaminants are equally fully audited and certified.
GMP+ and the requirements for certified laboratories
GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) was established in 1992 by the Dutch feed industry after a series of serious cases of contaminated feed materials. The GMP+ FSA standards were developed to synchronize feed requirements to ensure quality and safety throughout the global feed chain.
GMP+ registered laboratories must meet the following performance criteria for critical contaminants:
- LOQ (limit of quantitation)
- Reproducibility
- Bias
- Uncertainty of measurement
The program applies exclusively to:
- Aflatoxin B1
- Dioxins/dioxin-like PCBs/non-dioxin-like PCBs
- Heavy metals including fluorine
